Day 253: What Matters Most to God: The Search For The One
Read: Luke 15:1 - 7
I believe that all of us came here today hoping to hear a word from
God. Didn’t we? So I want to pray, and then I want to talk to you, from
the Bible, about just what God would say if you asked Him this question:
What matters to You, God? What do You really care about? What is really
important to You? What’s really important to God? Is that of interest
to you? I pray so, because I believe that it’s what God wants to talk to
every one of us about that today. I do not believe in the least it is a
coincidence that you are sitting or standing in the place you are right
now. I believe you are curious about something. So let's share
fellowship and talk about what really matters to God.
As we
work our way through and study the Bible you’ll discover that it says
that God is on an all - out search for two kinds of people. Try it! Read
it from cover to cover, and right off the bat you will find that it
pictures God in search mode. God is searching for relationship. God
is searching for order out of the darkest depths of chaos. He is on an
eternal search for fellowship. He is on a search to plumb the depths of
His own Creation for something or someone to care for and Love like
nobody else's business. He is looking far and wide for something or
someone of the greatest importance to Him. But not just to Him alone.
But also to that one who is the subject of God's eyes!
Have these words peaked your curiosity yet? Are you looking over your shoulder yet? Are you looking around where you are standing or seated for what
matters most to God? Are you looking at yourself yet? 4 “What man among
you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave
the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost
until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders,
rejoicing." You see, what matters most to God is the search for the one. Right now that search could very well be focused with an wholly unimaginable intensity upon the one you are looking at right now. Could be me. Could even be you.
Our Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the flock, is eternally vigilant,
loving and gentle. But let us never ever forget that He also eternally
persistent! Do you remember the state you were in when Jesus first
found you? If you are in such a state now, look around you and you will
find Jesus looking for you. Are you that one sheep who has strayed? I
can with the highest measure of confidence and assurance tell you Jesus
is looking for you. I pray that you can stop long enough from your
wanderings to see Jesus in your rear view mirror. You may feel like you
aren't the least bit worthy of the search. Guess what? You are what matters most to God. You are the one being searched for!
Let Us Pray: Plumb the depths of Psalm 23 today and for as long as you feel you need to. Make the Son Of The Shepherd your very own. Take ownership of it. Acknowledge the Shepherd. Give to Him the fullest possible acknowledgement that you
are what matters most to Him. You are the one He is searching for right
now! Even in the most desolate, most distant of places of chaos and disorder that any one of us should find, The Great Shepherd is eternal in His search, plumbing its very deepest depths for one reason and one reason only - because we are the ones who matters the most to God!
